Trump KNEW he had sensitive, classified information that he should not have had. He KNEW it.

The National Archives (NARA) requested that all classified information be returned under the authority of the Presidential Records Act and laws governing the storage and circulation of classified material.

What did Trump do in response?

Trump sent back 15 boxes. The NARA knew there were more boxes and they wanted those returned. They requested that the DOJ subpoena them. Trump and his lawyers gave the DOJ more classified documents and told them that was all of them.

But, why didn’t Trump tell the NARA and the DOJ that those documents were “de-classified” — after all, he claimed time and again that he de-classified documents just by thinking about it.  Why did he continue to hide the classified documents (that according to him were no longer classified) ?

Only after the DOJ came in with a search warrant and discovered dozens and dozens of classified documents, did Trump come up with the excuse that he had “de-classified” all the documents that had left the White House.

Why did he send back the first 15 boxes to NARA? Why didn’t he just tell them that he had “de-classified” all of them and that it was no big deal?

The simple deduction is that he knew he was holding onto and hiding classified, top-secret information.

Glimpses of REAL Republicans . . . this is what we are up against

I want to remind everyone what’s at stake at this moment in time. And let me emphasize this:

THESE PEOPLE WILL ALL BE VOTING.

Where is the Republicon freakout over the assassination attempt on President Obama?

About a year ago, an armed nutcase showed up outside Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s house. Remember that? The guy was suicidal, angry about the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and ready to take out some judges on his way out the door. It’s scary shit, no doubt, but, fortunately, the guy called the cops and turned himself in. And his gun was unloaded, but the situation was still scary,

For a couple of weeks, right-wing media and the GOP lost its goddamn mind. The Republican National Committee put out a statement calling the guy “The Democrat SCOTUS Assassin.” Fox “news” went batshit, with Jesse Watters who  just asked questions about the clown’s intent, like “Do you think that idea just popped into his head? Or did the orders come all the way from the top?” On Newsmax  (whose motto is: “Giving a handjob to crazy every night”), some host whose name no one will ever know wondered, “Are Americans right to question if [Nancy] Pelosi was actually hoping for or encouraging violence that could lead to Joe Biden appointing a new Supreme Court justice?” Other conservadrones said that the national media wasn’t spending enough time on the “horrific assassination attempt on Kavanaugh” (really? “Horrific”?) It didn’t matter that it was covered extensively everywhere. Republican officials blamed Chuck Schumer, who had said, “You will pay a price” over the Roe decision to the Supreme Court and to GOP members of Congress, meaning, clearly, you’ll face hell at the ballot box. Canadian citizen Rafael “Ted” Cruz, manly but fleeing Josh Hawley, and the corpse of Chuck Grassley all attacked Schumer and Democrats for the “assassination attempt.”

In other words, it was an occasion to pile on Democrats. Republicans are always good at making poisonous lemonade out of bullshit lemons. And this batch had the bonus effect of distracting from all the violence by right-wing nutcases who far outnumber the lefty ones.

So when we learned that Taylor Taranto, a QAnon-believing shit-for-brains who was already wanted for whatever he did at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, was arrested on June 29 with weapons near former President Barack Obama’s house in DC, certainly it would be different. Certainly those same people who complained about an alleged lack of coverage of the incident with Kavanaugh would be eager to cover the Obama assassination attempt and Taranto’s desire to kill Jamie Raskin, Kevin McCarthy, and others. He was live streaming his search for tunnels in the neighborhood because QAnon morons think children are always being dragged into Democrats’ houses through tunnels so they can be eaten and raped. Probably not in that order. Probably. Taranto didn’t turn himself in. No, the cops found him and even chased him for a bit. Taranto is obviously insane, but he had two guns, a machete, and 400 rounds when he was caught. Crazy can still kill.

Then, it turns out that Donald Trump, on June 28, posted a 2017 garbage dump of a piece praising his first 100 days in office and it included the addresses of both Obama and his former chief of staff  John Podesta. Taranto said he was targeting both of them. In fact, “Taranto reposted a Truth Social post from Trump containing what Trump claimed was Obama’s home address. In a post on Telegram, Taranto wrote: ‘We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta’s and Obama’s.'” You got that? The wannabe killer is saying he got his intel from Trump.

So, tell me, where the fuck is the outrage from the right over this assassination attempt against a former President>

“Stupid is as stupid does.” And the Arizona Republicon Party is stupid.

The Arizona Republican Party is down on its luck.

They’re still hanging on to one-vote majorities in the state House and Senate, but they’ll have trouble in 2024 if they don’t get their finances in order.

The Arizona GOP had less than $50,000 in cash reserves as of March 31. That’s not much money to fund crucial expenses such as rent, payroll and campaign operations.

The party blew $300,000 on “legal consulting,” much of which focused on overturning Trump’s 2020 defeat. All they have to show for it are a Democratic governor and U.S. Senate delegation.

7-yr-old boy killed, grandfather wounded in Florida dispute over jet skis

A 7-year-old boy was killed and his grandfather was injured by a stray bullet when gunfire erupted during a Fourth of July dispute in Florida, officials said.

The boy was killed by a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday night, Tampa Police Deputy Chief Calvin Johnson said during a news conference. His grandfather was shot in the hand.

The pair were at the Courtney Campbell Causeway west of Ben T. Davis Beach around 8:30 p.m. local time when two groups of people started arguing over jet skis being driven recklessly near where children were playing in the water, Johnson said. Members from each group opened fire.

“The grandfather of the young man that was shot grabbed him and pulled him into the truck when they heard the gunfire going on,” Johnson said. “They were inside the vehicle. A round went through the vehicle, hit the grandfather in the finger and the young man in the head.”

“There was no reason, no excuse, for that argument to lead to gunfire, much less an argument over jet skis,” Johnson said.

Just days before the shooting, a new law went into effect in Florida allowing people to carry guns without a concealed weapons permit.

MTG kicked out of “House Freedom Caucus” – – – how about kicking her loony ass out of Congress?

Marjorie Taylor Greene is no longer a member of the Freedom Caucus after a vote last month, according to one member of the conservative group’s board.

What’s happening? A member of the House Freedom Caucus on Thursday confirmed that the conservative group has VOTED to boot Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — a vote first reported by POLITICO last week.

“A vote was taken to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the House Freedom Caucus for some of the things she’s done,” said Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.).

Details: The Maryland Republican declined to say how he voted, but called the decision to remove her “an appropriate action.” Pressed if that meant Greene is formally out, Harris, who noted he is on the group’s board, added: “As far as I know, that is the way it is.”

MAGAt Senator Josh “Run for my Life” Hawley quotes Patrick Henry . . . only it’s NOT Patrick Henry!!!

Maybe it’s time for Josh Hawley to get out of the history business.

Missouri’s senior senator on Tuesday decided to celebrate July 4 with another bit of online trolling. He took to Twitter to celebrate that great American patriot Patrick Henry. His tweet took the form of a quote.

Hawley wrote: “Patrick Henry: ‘It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.’”

The problem? Henry never said that. The quote is false. Made up.

Instead — as Hawley’s readers pointed out in a fact-checking Community Note appended to his tweet — the line is from a 1956 piece in a magazine, The Virginian, that was about Patrick Henry. Not by him. Another magazine, The American Mercury, as a Henry quote later that year and apparently took off from there.

The kicker? As historian Seth Cotlar of Willamette University pointed out, The Virginian was “virulently antisemitic (and) white nationalist magazine. The American Mercury, for that matter, was also an “antisemitic rag.”
