Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad

There is no doubt about it:  Donald Trump is mad — “mad” not in the sense of “angry”, but mad in the sense of insane, mentally unstable, loony, crazy as a shithouse mouse.  Here are examples.

Jan 2 -3, 2023, Trump goes on late-night rant against innocent Georgia election workers.

Former President Donald Trump late Monday night took to his fake Twitter app Truth Social to rekindle conspiracy theories about two Georgia elections workers whom he and his allies baselessly believe prevented ballots that were supposedly cast for Trump from being properly tabulated, thus costing him Georgia’s sixteen Electoral College votes in the 2020 election.

During a House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol hearing in June, Wandrea Shaye Moss and her mother Lady Ruby Freeman testified under oath that Trump’s then-attorney Rudy Giuliani alleged that they helped steal the presidency away from Trump.

Moss emotionally recounted how erstwhile New York City Mayor Giuliani’s false accusations destroyed her life:

It’s turned my life upside down. I no longer give out my business card. I don’t transfer calls. I don’t want anyone knowing my name. I don’t want to go anywhere with my mom because she might yell my name out over the grocery aisle or something. I don’t go to the grocery store at all. I haven’t been anywhere at all.

I’ve gained about 60 pounds. I just don’t do nothing anymore. I don’t want to go anywhere. I second guess everything that I do. This affected my life in a major way. In every way. All because of lies, for me doing my job, the same thing I’ve been doing forever.

Moss and Freeman sued Giuliani in December 2021. He attempted and failed to have the defamation proceeding dismissed this past November.

The case stated that “on multiple occasions, strangers camped out at Ms. Freeman’s home and/or knocked on her door. When Ms. Freeman was not home or would not answer the door, these strangers would sometimes also harass her neighbors. Strangers were coming to her home so frequently that the local police agreed to add her address to their patrols in the area.”

The mother-daughter duo also filed a lawsuit against the right-wing news website The Gateway Pundit for promoting Giuliani’s “campaign of lies.”

That complaint, which was ultimately settled by the parties, contained additional details of the petitioners’ plight:

Freeman made a series of 911 emergency calls in the days after she was publicly identified in early December by the president’s camp. In a Dec. 4 call, she told the dispatcher she’d gotten a flood of ‘threats and phone calls and racial slurs,’ adding: ‘It’s scary because they’re saying stuff like, ‘We’re coming to get you. We are coming to get you.’

Two days later, a panicked Freeman called 911 again, after hearing loud banging on her door just before 10 p.m. Strangers had come the night before, too. She begged the dispatcher for assistance. ‘Lord Jesus, where’s the police?’ she asked, according to the recording, obtained by Reuters in a records request. ‘I don’t know who keeps coming to my door. Please help me.’

All of that prolonged trauma was forced back into the fray by Trump’s trio of so-called “Truths,” which were posted roughly twenty minutes apart.

11:47 p.m.:

Wow! Has anyone seen the Ruby Freeman ‘contradictions’ of her sworn testimony? Now this is ‘BIG STUFF.’Look what was captured by Cobb County police body cameras on January 4, 2021. ‘And everything they are saying is false. Everything from the quote unquote SUITCASES OF THE BALLOT BOXES, TO THE WHY WE OPENED THEM BACK UP. EVERYTHING THEY SAID WAS FALSE.THE FBI…REACHED OUT TO ME ONLY TO CLEAR MY SOCIAL MEDIA (evidence tampering?)…COUNT WAS LOW, IT WAS REALLY LOW.’ Now it gets really bad,TRUTH 2

12:07 a.m.:

Ruby Freeman, page 2: ‘BOOM under the table. Cut the zip ties to scan them so the number would go up…so that’s how the number was CREATED, by the ballots going through the scanner…I do want an attorney. IT’S ALL A FRAUD. EVERYTHING THEY ARE SAYING IS FALSE. FROM THE SUITCASES OF THE BALLOT BOXES, TO WHY WE OPENED THEM BACK UP. EVERYTHING THEY SAID WAS FALSE.’ They got Ruby 7 top D.C. lawyers and protection from the FBI (Again?). WHY? She then ‘changed’ her statements – LIED? TROUBLE FOR RUBY!!!

12:29 a.m.:

What will the Great State of Georgia do with the Ruby Freeman MESS? Why not just tell the TRUTH, get rid of the turmoil and guilt, and take our Country back from the evils and treachery of the Radical Left monsters who want to see America die? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Ohh, this is great!! Republican Party tearing itself apart!!!

On Monday, CNN reported that a Republican lawmaker is raging against “chaos agents” within the House GOP who are set on tanking GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in his bid for Speaker of the House.

Republicans, who won an unexpectedly narrow majority in the House after a contentious midterm election last year, are set to vote on the Speakership tomorrow.

“Rep. Dusty Johnson, a South Dakota Republican, said that he found it ‘incredible’ that the same members pushing for a more ‘open and transparent’ GOP conference are getting behind a ‘shadow candidate’ they plan to ‘ambush’ Republicans with at the start of the new Congress,” reported Manu Raju, Melanie Zanona, and Lauren Fox.

“‘I think members are growing increasingly frustrated with the intransigence of some of the holdouts,” said Johnson, who described the rebel Republicans as “chaos agents who are trying to cause trouble.”

In a subsequent CNN interview with Erica Hill, Johnson vowed that McCarthy would be elected even if it takes “30 ballots”.

“Other dark-horse candidates could emerge if McCarthy drops out, according to Republican lawmakers,” said the report. “Among the names that have been floated: North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry, a McCarthy ally who is poised to chair a top committee next year; Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, a co-founder of the far-right House Freedom Caucus; and Oklahoma Rep. Tom Cole, a veteran lawmaker who would be seen as more of a temporary caretaker for the job.

None of those lawmakers, however, have expressed any interest in the job, and they would almost certainly run into the same dilemma as McCarthy: Preventing more than four Republicans from defecting in a bid to win the speaker’s gavel.”

Already, five far-right Republicans have vowed to vote as a “Never Kevin” bloc, which would already be more votes than McCarthy can afford to lose. Meanwhile, at least nine other Republicans are undecided.

Trump’s business model: Live off your daddy’s money

Trump’s taxes show Trump lived off daddy’s trust funds. He made money off daddy’s name and he made money as a reality TV host. That’s about it. He used this money to cover all his business failures. He used it to pay lawyers and accountants to bail him out of all his failures and crimes.

When it comes to crimes Trump was mostly a minor league player for most of his life. He would cheat on his taxes. Set up a charity and use that money to bail out his failures. He did the same with his fake school. On Jan 6, Trump left the minor leagues for the major leagues when it comes to crimes.

Daddy’s trust funds, daddy’s name, money he made as a reality TV host won’t bail him out this time.

Trump is one of the luckiest, most incompetent fools who has ever lived. He should have stayed in the minor leagues. He could have continued to play the part of a successful business man. Continued to fool people he was something he is not. He should have never run for president and he sure as has hell shouldn’t have attempted a coup or stolen top secret documents. That’s the major league of crimes and Trump is no major league player.

And — if the truth be told — he ran through daddy’s money and the TV earnings long ago and now is in debt up to his eyeballs. If he can’t roll the debt over as it matures (borrow again to pay off the previous lender), he’s doomed. Most legitimate lenders won’t touch him anymore and his name, his only real asset for the last couple of decades, is not what it was. Makes him the perfect stooge for money launderers and other criminals.

Trump opens the new year with a pack of lies about all the Republicans he drove out of office

On New Years Day, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to release a list of various Republican lawmakers and public officials whom he claims to have pushed out of office over disloyalty to him.

First on the list, Trump named several outgoing or already out-of-office Republican senators who spoke critically of him to varying degrees throughout his presidency — Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Richard Burr (R-NC). Republicans no longer even control all of these seats as a result; Flake was ultimately replaced by now-independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, while Toomey will be succeeded by Democrat John Fetterman.

Trump then listed off a number of members of Congress he takes credit for defeating or forcing into retirement, including several who voted to impeach him after the January 6 attack.

On that list were Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Tom Rice (R-SC), Peter Meijer (R-MI), Jaime Hererra Beutler (R-WA), Fred Upton (R-MI), Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), John Katko (R-NY), Justin Amash (I-MI), and Mark Sanford (R-SC). Some of these lawmakers didn’t leave entirely due to Trump — Kinzinger and Upton’s seats were redrawn in unfavorable ways, for instance — and several, like Meijer and Hererra Beutler, will now be replaced by Democrats.

Finally, the former president named two anti-Trump Republican governors he claimed to have defeated, but his claim in both cases is questionable.

He listed Gov. John Kasich (R-OH), a Republican who crossed the aisle to back Biden for president in 2020, who wasn’t defeated at all but simply reached his term limit in 2018; and Gov. Charlie Baker (R-MA), who retired from office extremely popular and will be succeeded by Democrat Maura Healey.

Newly-elected Georgia Republican steps down after drug arrest . . . typical

WINDER, Ga. (AP) — A Republican arrested after winning his race for a seat in the Georgia House has decided to step aside instead of facing a possible suspension as soon as he was sworn into office later this month,

The decision by Danny Rampey means a special election will be held on Jan. 31 to choose the new representative for the House seat based around Winder, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Rampey, 67, was arrested last month after investigators said he stole prescription narcotics at the retirement complex he manages.

Republican leaders were pressuring Rampey to step aside before new legislators are sworn in on Jan. 9 because the special election to fill the seat would only be for Republicans since Rampey didn’t have a Democratic opponent in November’s election.

He’s a Republican.  Why should we expect anything else?

2023 will bring the end of Trump

PREDICTION:  2023 will bring the end of Trump, the end of our national nightmare.

I really don’t care what he is indicted for:

  • Supporting the January 6 attempted coup.
  • Violating the Constitution by urging Mike Pence to not certify electoral votes.
  • Tax fraud.
  • Insurance fraud.
  • Bank fraud.
  • Trying to overturn the election in Georgia.
  • Plotting to present phony electors to Congress.
  • Illegal possession of classified material.
  • Violation of Presidential Records Act.

Doesn’t matter.  Just so he is indicted, goes to trial, and is convicted.

I’m also hoping this is the beginning of his going absolutely broke.  He owes somewhere between $500 million and $1 billion to various foreign banks and shady entities.  He has no way to pay this back.  Bankruptcy will not protect him.

Furthermore, I’m hoping he takes his entire family down with him:  Don Jr. and his ho’ Kimberly Guilfoyle; Stupid Eric and Dumbass Lara; Ivanka and Jared; and Melania The Illegal Immigrant and Paid Escort.

Trump set up a “media availability” at Mar-A-Largo

Trump announced a “Media Availability” at Mar-A-Lago, a couple of hours before the New Years Eve celebration.  He invited reporters, cameras, etc.

Four minor reporters showed up.

Not a single broadcast or cable news network covered it.

Notably even Fox News and Newsmax were absent — both networks have historically offered sympathetic coverage of the former president.

Maybe, just maybe the networks are getting it. Trump is as vile as they come and a majority in this country are sick of him. Now, let’s see if we can, with the help of the DOJ, deposit this turd in prison for his crimes.

MORE ON TRUMP’S FAILED “NEWS CONFERENCE” — NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THIS FOOL (no one with half a brain, that is)

Now, if New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago is any indication, we can look forward to a year of more failure for Donald Trump and his worshipful GOP cult followers. According to reports from the snooty soiree, Trump had invited the press to attend an end-of-year avail at his resort/home. However, in a prelude to what 2023 holds for him, not a single representative from a reputable news organization showed up. Even Trump-fluffing outlets like Newsmax and Fox News declined his invitation.

The media that refused to waste their New Year’s Eve on another Trump propaganda spew didn’t miss very much. He spoke for fewer than five minutes, and dodged pertinent questions about abortion and his prospective GOP primary opponent, Ron DeSantis (video below). He did, however, manage to squeeze out a response to a blatantly biased inquiry into his lies about the FBI and Department of Justice persecuting him. The question came from a “correspondent” from Steve Bannon’s “War Room”, vlog, Jayne Zirkle, who asked…

Zirkle: Mr. President, the DoJ and the FBI have weaponized against you. Will you commit to going after them in your second term?
Trump: I think it’s disgraceful what’s happened with the FBI and the weaponization of justice. There’s never been anything like this, and it is disgraceful.

Trump also replied to a question about how his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination is going. He said simply that it is going “very well.” Which is puzzling considering that he hasn’t had any campaign events, or even left his Mar-a-Lago bunker, since he announced his candidacy a month and a half ago.

The snub that Trump received from the press isn’t likely to soothe his fierce animosity toward the media and the Constitution’s First Amendment mandating that they operate freely. He has already dubbed them “the enemy of the people,” and just yesterday posted a rant on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, expressing his hatred for the press and his desire to see these American businesses and workers suffer.

Trump also celebrated the lower ratings that television news have received this year, although he clearly has no idea why that is. And in the same post he lashed out at Fox News, who he said is struggling because “they never say ‘Trump’ or TRUTH, never talk about the Rigged Presidential Election, and is a Fake Polling Network.” Yeah, that’s why.

The wrath that Trump is directing at Fox News now may be because he just heard that his favorite Fox flunky, Sean Hannity, told the House Select Committee investing the January 6th insurrection, with regard to the 2020 election being “rigged and stolen,” that I did not believe it for one second.” That’s gotta hurt.

And with that, Trump delivered his wishes for the nation on this holiday saying

“HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of the Radical Left Democrats, Marxist Lunatics, China loving Coco Chow and her Obedient Husband, Mitch, and Clueless RINOS, who are working so hard to DESTROY our once great Country.”

Such uplifting, heartwarming, and positive thoughts for America’s future from the twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host, and soon-to-be criminal defendant.

AND THERE’S MORE:

Former President Donald Trump rang in the New Year on Saturday night with hundreds of Mar-a-Lago members and a few political cronies.

In past years, Hollywood celebrities have attended Trump’s annual A-list New Year’s Eve party at the Palm Beach club. But this year, the most notable, high-profile figures attending the opulent black tie-and-long gown gala were goofballs, liars, and failures from the former president’s political orbit, including pollster Dick Morris (renowned for bringing ho’s into the Executive Office Building and sucking their toes); legal adviser Rudy Giuliani (drunk on his ass and dripping with hair dye); and pillow maker Mike Lindell (still waiting for Trump to be reinstated). All walked the red carpet but did not comment about Trump or their expectations for 2023.

Trump’s second-oldest son, Eric, and his wife, Lara, attended as well. However,  two other adult children were notable by their absence: Donald Jr. with his ho’ Kimberly Guilfoyle; and daughter Ivanka with husband Jared.

House Reublicans release list of bills their base will love but that are going nowhere

House Majority Leader-elect Steve Scalise has announced a list of 11 slabs of red-meat legislation that his Republican caucus will be unveiling in the first two weeks of the 118th Congress.

Scalise released a “Dear Colleague” letter to the caucus Friday enumerating pieces of “meaningful, ‘ready-to-go’ legislation.” He neglected to mention that each of them might also be termed “ready-to-go-nowhere” since the Democrats maintained their majority in the U.S. Senate.

Overlooking that detail, Scalise promised to “hit the ground running” with some by tossing red meat to the base on immigration, abortion, crime, energy and China. In apparent denial of voter outrage over the repeal of Roe v Wade protection for American women, anti-abortion led the way with three of the 11 bills.

A “Born Alive Survivors Protection Act” purports to “ensure that infants born alive after an abortion receive the same protection of law and degree of care as any newborn.” That can be expected to have the same impact as the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act” when it doesn’t get considered in the Senate.

The latter measure purports to codify long-standing federal legislation denying reproductive freedom to those women who need it the most. It would “make permanent the long-standing Hyde Amendment as well as similar provisions to prohibit federal funding for abortion and funding for any insurance plan that includes abortion on demand.”

A third item of anti-choice symbolism “expresses the sense of Congress condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches.” Were abortion providers added to the list, that one presumably might have hope for passage in both chambers, albeit with no impact.

The Republicans’ desire to exploit the immigration issue occupies two of its proposed bills, although one of those might have an unintended consequence with the gun lobby. The first one is a straightforward scolding – nothing more – purporting to “address our crisis at the southern border by empowering the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to turn away illegal migrants at the border if the Secretary of DHS does not have operational control.”

But unlike that toothless expression of red-meat politics, another bill might raise eyebrows on the Right. It “requires the National Instant Criminal Background Check system (NICS) to notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and relevant local law enforcement when a firearm transferee is illegally present in the United States “

It is not clear whether requiring the NICS to do anything regarding notifying law enforcement about a firearm transfer would comport with the “camel’s nose in the tent” prohibitions demanded by the National Rifle Association. That one might stir headlines from an intra-party squabble even without getting anywhere near the Senate.

The Republicans also plan to grandstand against President Joe Biden regarding energy policy. One bill would prohibit non-emergency drawdowns of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve without a plan to increase energy production on federal lands.” But that’s presumably as sexy to the base as attacking a straw man in this one:

“This bill prohibits the Secretary of Energy from sending petroleum products from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China.” That misleading reference has been clarified by fact-checkers who noted that when strategic reserves are made available to the highest bidder in the oil industry – as a tool of holding down U.S. gas prices during inflation – some companies “have then chosen to export some of the oil to countries around the world, including China.”

That fine point might be worth debating, were it not for this: None of the items on Scalise’s list of bills is headed for the Senate. They’re only getting sent to the base.
