The Republican Party is quietly in a complete panic

What I’m talking about is the panic of the party’s pollsters and election strategists. They see the writing on the wall. They know what’s coming down the pike.

Republicans understand that Donald Trump is going off the rails. Look at his behavior.

This man seeks again, to be the commander-in-chief of the most powerful military in human history. He wants control of America’s Nuclear Weapons arsenal.

And by any objective measurement, any standard, his conduct has become completely deranged: his attacks on the Federal Judges and Judiciary; his attacks and threats on the Prosecutor in Atlanta — he’s dis-representing her, insulting her, degrading her. The attack is racist.

He is lashing out; he is decomposing. This is what 100 felony counts will do to a person.

When the trials begin, and there is action to cover and to report on, as the events are taking place, I think it is safe to say that the American people will be highly engaged.

Part of what is broken in American politics, is the life-cycle between the Media and the politician — the ubiquity of coverage, the constant presence of these people in our faces, is leading the American people to turn off their televisions.

The coverage of the Donald Trump story — as it move into its 8th year, as we approach the decade mark — has become brutally tedious. What is it that we’re supposed to talk about, day after day, after day?  When you consider his depravity, his treachery, his treason, against the United States of America.

Now Republicans in Washington DC, the ones who run the elections, are deeply panicked … they know the incredibly high price that has been paid up and down the ballot, for Trump sycophancy. They know the cost of the appeasement and collaboration — of the moral cowardice.  They know the cost of what it looks like, when these Candidates are made to seem idiotic, under questioning that they can’t keep straight. They can’t walk the fine line of being for — and against — Trump.

They can’t possibly make the case that they support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The Extremist threat facing America, has been cooking now, for a very very long time. It has been inflamed by Social Media, by the ubiquity of Trump’s presence. By his his ability at any moment to divide, antagonize, incite.

A great test is coming for America. And this is a test that is Pass/Fail. It’s very simple. We are nearly 250 years old as a nation. Generations of American have marched into battle, to defend our Freedom. They crossed bridges, like the Edmund Pettus, for Justice.  Americans were beaten, killed, lynched, shot — SO that they could have the Right to Vote.

There is no conceivable way to sustain the United States of America outside of a system, where the People are able to pick their leaders. And this requires something from the leaders: a willingness to concede to the sovereignty and the will of the People.

Politics attracts all sorts of people: the narcissists, the vain, the needy, the searching, the yearning. It also attracts genuine servants. People who want to make the country stronger. Make it better. Defend the country.  It is so hard sometimes to see the difference, and to tell the difference between the two. But they’re there.

The test at hand means: you cannot be for the man who tried to take away the Right of the American people to choose.

The test ahead means, that you have to understand, that America is built on the concept: that if you lose, you acknowledge the will of the People.  You congratulate your opponent. You support him or her when you can, if there are areas of mutual agreement, for the betterment of something bigger … bigger than you … bigger than your state — and that’s the American Nation.

The writing is on the Republican Trump Wall.  And it sure looks awfully messy.  And incredibly DANGEROUS.

Evangelical pastors are encountering congregations who think Jesus was “weak”

Evangelical Christian leader Russell Moore revealed this week that many evangelical pastors have become alarmed that their Trump-loving congregants have become so militant that they are even rejecting the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In an interview with NPR, Moore said that multiple pastors had told him disturbing stories about their congregants being upset when they read from the famous “Sermon on the Mount” in which Christ espoused the principles of forgiveness and mercy as central to Christian doctrine.

“Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching — ‘turn the other cheek’ — [and] to have someone come up after to say, ‘Where did you get those liberal talking points?'” Moore revealed. “And what was alarming to me is that in most of these scenarios, when the pastor would say, ‘I’m literally quoting Jesus Christ,’ the response would not be, ‘I apologize.’ The response would be, ‘Yes, but that doesn’t work anymore. That’s weak.'”

Moore, who has been an outspoken critic of many evangelicals’ embrace of Trump, argues that this has led him to conclude that American evangelical Christianity is now in crisis.

It’s known as FAFO — Fuck Around, Find Out

Trump is fucking around, he’s about to find out.

At his arraignment last Thursday, the judge ordered him to knock off the bullshit and stop threatening people.

The first thing Trump did when he got back home was to launch an attack on Jack Smith, Mike Pence, and anyone else he could think of.

Smith, on Saturday, appealed to the judge to issue a protective order which means (1) Trump is ordered directly to not say a word about witnesses; (2) Trump will not be allowed to keep copies of witness testimony; and (3) he is not to attack Smith or anyone else working for the prosecution.

The judge responded by ordering Trump’s attorneys to be in her courtroom before 5:00 PM, Monday.  Trump appealed for a delay, the judge denied the appeal, told his lawyers to be there before 5:00 or else.

Trump has FUCKED AROUND his entire life.  He is now about tO FIND OUT.

Republican rhetoric has crossed the line into violence

Millions of Americans are immersed in a twisted world where language used to describe autocrats is being applied to America’s democratic institutions.

The draconian rhetoric, once reserved for the likes of tyrants and dictators, has become commonplace in right-wing media when referring to President Joe Biden and the elected government he leads. The dark and sinister language, normalized on mainstream conservative platforms such as Fox News, has been on full display this week during coverage of Donald Trump’s third indictment.

The Biden White House is referred to as the “Biden regime.” Federal law enforcement are referred to as the “Gestapo” and Biden’s “personal police force.” Institutions such as the Department of Justice are referred to as “the Department of Injustice.” The indictments against Trump are referred to as “political war crimes” and an “assassination.”
Talk of imprisoning Democratic politicians — and even their families — in acts of revenge is par for the course. Even floating the outright execution of Biden, as Charlie Kirk recently did, is accepted in the warped world of MAGA Media, where the audience has been programmed through years of conditioning to welcome such vile rhetoric into their homes.

None of this is an exaggeration. It is the reality of what is being broadcast in millions of homes across the country.

“I think it’s hard to overstate the dangers here: This language moves beyond mere demonization because it suggests a need for violent resistance,” Charlie Sykes, a former conservative talk-radio host and an editor-at-large of The Bulwark, told me Thursday. “It’s language that undermines the integrity, the democratic institutions, and the justice system itself. And there’s a constant escalation without much concern where this leads or who might act on the idea that our opponents aren’t just wrong — but evil, dangerous, and illegitimate.”
